suggestion for congestion?
my poor baby is congested.... he's still mr. happy most of the day, but his little nose is taking a beating. thankfully, what's coming from his nose is clear, but i'd love to nip this in the bud. any suggestions? i've got a humidifier going for his naps and at night, we sat in a steamy steamy bathroom last night for a little bit, and i'm trying to keep him upright as much as possible. what else can i do?

Give him liuid Vit C that you can find at a Health Food Store - NOT GNC..... Since you are nursing, you need to take as much vit C as possible as it will get to him that way too. Use a little bit of saline nose spray - totally safe - I call it "hose the nose" since he cannot blow his own nose - you'll be doing it for him by gushing his nose with the solution and get ready with your handy dandy snot sucker outer cause the saline will thin his secretions and then you'll be able to get a lot out.
Also, the way to tell when a body has reached its vitamin C limit is a called a vit C flush. You give the vitamin C every hour starting with say 250 mg and then increase it by just a touch with new dose. When the stools become a bit loose, that's the body's ay of telling you that the last amount was too much. Then at the next dosing time, simply give less. There is no know toxicity level of vit. C. I have yet to see a doctor standing at the oranges on the Shoney's buffet saying, "No no that's too many oranges - you'll overdose on vitamin C." Have you?
Something my son swears by is ZiCam - they are little Q-tips loaded with natural stuff. They really do stop a cold.... I cannot think of anything else.
I guess he's too young for safe reccomendations on a decongestant.
Hope this helps...
