the icing on the cake

brian's birthday kind of got lost in the process of moving (among other things we've yet to find), so we had a little belated celebration last week. anybody who knows brian knows that he is not a cake guy... unless it's a bonafide american cookie company cake. he's had the exact. same. cake. every single year. so why bother to even look at the cake? that's obviously what everyone was thinking this year. here's a shot of our birthday crowd singing to the birthday boy. you can see brian's dad is about to flip out the lights.... but wait! brian's grandmother seated at the table actually read the cake!

when the birthday song ended, i asked, "has anybody even read the cake?" natalie was a fast reader. :) everybody else was a little confused... and surprised!

we are so excited to be expecting a precious addition to our family in may 2012! praise God from Whom all blessings flow.

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.            -Psalm 139:13-16
