on a roll!

the big news of the week is... (drum roll!) ethan rolled over! yep! another developmental milestone checked off the list. :) he has been trying so hard for the last week or so... and then in the last few days, he has really been holding his head up during tummy time! yesterday, we went on a walk, and then i needed to put laundry in the dryer. i put him on his tummy and turned to go to the garage... then for some reason, i decided to stay with him a minute to see what he'd do... and within 10 seconds, he was on his back! he got the cutest look on his face, as if to say "woah! that was fun!" (yes... i know i'm always making up things he's thinking...but that's what a mom does.) :) i am SO GLAD i waited to do laundry, or i would have missed it! as soon as he rolled over, i called brian at work to tell him. i felt so bad that he missed it... but i'm sure it won't be the last time he does it. ha.. in two months, i'll probably be fighting this rolling as i try to change his diaper. it won't seem so cute then, probably. i have yet to capture his new skill on video, but it's only a matter of time, folks. this picture is during a rolling attempt. :) i'm gonna go put this little man on the floor to see if he can do it again... i guess i should make sure brian's in the room this time, huh? i hope i'm this excited about every little thing that our other children do...

OH- stay tuned for more pictures... you're gonna love these.

sleepytime pictures

i've been meaning to post these pictures for the last week or so... i took them as ethan was waking up from a nap. ha. instead of getting my child out of his bed, i just take pictures of him!

uh-oh....i'm afraid ethan has been watching tv with his daddy...

fall!

oh, it's finally getting pleasant enough to be outside and enjoy it!! praise God! fall is finally here, though there's not much color-changing around these parts... oh well, i will be satisfied with a beautiful blue sky and a cool breeze. i took ethan on a walk this morning, and as the breeze blew over his face, his eyes got so big as if to say, "mom! what is that?" poor kid has only known blazing hot weather till now. enjoy these pictures that we took in the backyard this weekend. (thanks, auntie kristie, for being our on-call photographer!) have a great week, everybody...and remember, "this is the day the Lord has made- let us rejoice and be glad in it!" psalm 118:24

back to blogdom

yes, i'm alive.... i had such great intentions on posting a new blog at least a few times a week-- surely i'd have time for that!! well... after laundry and cleaning and singing to little squirt and changing little squirt, etc.... oh and eating something every now and then.....my sweet husband still needs my attention (and something to eat!), so i've had to put off blogging these last several days. you'd think i'd be in a routine by now!

i need some advice- i have these great baby einstein videos that ethan absolutely loves. he will watch them intently while i make dinner or clean. though they seem so wonderful, is it really a good idea to allow my 3 month old to watch them on occasion? he doesn't watch them everyday...maybe a few times a week for 30 minutes. i have read articles online about how tv is not good for babies' brains... but then i've also read where as long as it's "age-appropriate" material, it's ok. "age-appropriate" material for babies is apparently slow moving or still frames with slower music. i definitely don't want to raise a child who would choose tv over playing with his toys or reading. i also don't want to condition his brain to need fast stimuli to the point that he is unable to focus or give attention to a task for a certain period of time. these videos, and others, appear excellent--classical music in the background can only help my child, right? i'd love anybody's opinion or expert advice!

well, my little einstein just woke up, so i'm signing off from blogworld for now... i'll post some new pictures soon. i've got some great ones. :)

OH that reminds me, ethan's smile is featured as "image of the week" on kristi's blog... check it out!

oh wow! i'm an extrovert!

like i have nothing better to do than take a personality test...but i did... it's always entertaining. i never knew i was an extrovert... here's all my results. enjoy.

Stability results were moderately high which suggests you are relaxed, calm, secure, and optimistic.

Orderliness results were moderately high which suggests you are, at times, overly organized, reliable, neat, and hard working at the expense of flexibility, efficiency, spontaneity, and fun.

Extraversion results were high which suggests you are overly talkative, outgoing, sociable and interacting at the expense too often of developing your own individual interests and internally based identity.
