back to blogdom

yes, i'm alive.... i had such great intentions on posting a new blog at least a few times a week-- surely i'd have time for that!! well... after laundry and cleaning and singing to little squirt and changing little squirt, etc.... oh and eating something every now and then.....my sweet husband still needs my attention (and something to eat!), so i've had to put off blogging these last several days. you'd think i'd be in a routine by now!

i need some advice- i have these great baby einstein videos that ethan absolutely loves. he will watch them intently while i make dinner or clean. though they seem so wonderful, is it really a good idea to allow my 3 month old to watch them on occasion? he doesn't watch them everyday...maybe a few times a week for 30 minutes. i have read articles online about how tv is not good for babies' brains... but then i've also read where as long as it's "age-appropriate" material, it's ok. "age-appropriate" material for babies is apparently slow moving or still frames with slower music. i definitely don't want to raise a child who would choose tv over playing with his toys or reading. i also don't want to condition his brain to need fast stimuli to the point that he is unable to focus or give attention to a task for a certain period of time. these videos, and others, appear excellent--classical music in the background can only help my child, right? i'd love anybody's opinion or expert advice!

well, my little einstein just woke up, so i'm signing off from blogworld for now... i'll post some new pictures soon. i've got some great ones. :)

OH that reminds me, ethan's smile is featured as "image of the week" on kristi's blog... check it out!

hey! okay, here is my child psychology addition to this conversation :) I learned that, after studies had been done, like you suspected, its the fast-moving cartoons that are bad for kids brains...its not so much the tv screen, but whats on the tv screen thats bad...the slower the material, the better :) I imagine the baby einstein stuff would be just fine, especially since its geared specifically toward very young children. You're a good mommy, and I know ethan is right on his way to being a genious!!!!! love and miss you!! ~Alicia

** Disclaimer: you know I'm not an expert! **
My experience with Lydia has been great with TV so far. We only watch TV on rare ocassions; for that reason I think she sees it as a treat for us to watch it together. She's only seen a handful of BE videos and a little Food Network - ha :) - and I think it's great because she's so into the world around her . . . you're a FABULOUS MOMMY, and I know you're going to make sure Ethan gets most of his entertainment from the real world!! 1 Corinthians 10:31- Love you!
