packing for one is way too easy!

well, i am busy packing today, but this is no ordinary trip for our family. instead of spending half the day rounding up toys for the trip and mathematically figuring out just how many diapers i will need without bringing too many, i am packing for one. me! tomorrow i fly out by myself to visit kristi and family... and i finally get to get my hands on sweet baby shepherd! i can't wait! it will be four days of loving on her kids and helping her around the house. we have plans to stock her freezer with casseroles, take family pictures, make cute chore charts for the kids, and i'm sure she has other projects up her sleeve that she just hasn't told me about yet. :)

seriously, it is weird packing for just myself. my brain keeps switching back to default mommy mode. i hope i don't end up walking out the door with a sippy cup! :) during my mental packing, i just realized yesterday that i have no need for a backpack on the plane! i can just take a book and my purse! i'm sure i'll feel like i've forgotten something.

brian and our family are so sweet to hold down the fort while i'm gone. this is something that i probably will be less likely to do down the road once baby #3 is here, so i jumped at the chance to make this trip happen. (and anyone who really knows me knows that i loved gearing into travel agent mode!) this will really be a treasure of a trip for me. i struggled with whether to bring my kids or not because our kids do love each other so much.... if ethan was still free to fly, i might have considered it. but i'm cheap. and really, i want to be able to help my post-partum friend in ways that i could not if my own children were at my side. it turns out that it is a very busy weekend for her husband, eric, so kristi and i have both already smiled at the Providential Planning of this weekend. i had hoped to come so much sooner after shepherd's birth, but for one reason or another, this was the best weekend for me to be there. i cannot wait to see what God has in store for our four days together!

i'd better end this post and finish packing. thank you for your prayers for my safe travels and for brian's weekend with the kids. can't wait to tell you all about it!

I am laughing for several reasons:

1) At first I thought that graphic was a photo, not a painting. "Ugh!" I thought. She really needs to clean out her baby stuff! (haha - kidding)

2) "and i'm sure she has other projects up her sleeve that she just hasn't told me about yet..." - Hee, Hee... doing that at the moment, actually!

3) It's okay if you bring a sippy cup. Since I'm too lazy to restock mine when I should, more cups are always welcome. My kids would be thrilled to have a cup that isn't completely warped by chew marks. :)

4) "I cannot wait to see what God has in store for our four days together!" - well, surely it will involve burp cloths, diapers, and lots of messes everywhere. Sounds like fun, huh?!!! Don't you wish you were coming, Brian?!

Haha... you know I'm just being silly.

I love you and I, as well as my babies, can't wait to see you, friend!

Wow! A trip without children! That must be very nice. Hope you have a safe trip and a good time (probably didn't even need to say "have a good time"...you always have a good time wherever you go! :-) ).

Yay! I don't remember how to pack for one. The only time I've tried to do that since becoming a mom was when I was attempting to pack a bag to go to the hospital while in labor with AK, but then I almost had the baby on the bathroom floor, so I abandoned that effort! Okay, you're officially far enough along to find out the gender... PLEASE tell me you're not one of those "I want to be suprised" parents that's going to KILL me with the suspense!!!
