baby's first picture!
i just got home from my first dr's appointment this time around...and everything looks great! there is one baby, carrie. just one! we could see little arms moving and a strong heart beating (174 bpm... and caroline's was 171... hmm, another girl?). i even learned that the egg came from my left ovary! did you know that the ovary that produces the (ultimately) fertilized egg has a small cyst on it for the first three months that produces progesterone... which is the cause of first trimester nausea?
well, i am pretty ready for that cyst to just disappear!!! i have not been very sick, but if i do not put food in my mouth every 30 minutes, i am out of commission for awhile. it took me a few weeks to figure out that eating that often would help, so i have not been the most fun summer mommy since the beginning of june! i'm thankful to have finally discovered what my body needs to stay happy, so i just eat a little bit all day long, and i can make it! the kids have already grown accustomed to hearing "it's for the baby!". so far, that has worked!
ethan was "so exciting" about my doctor's appointment this morning. my mom stayed here with the kids while brian went with me, and she said that when ethan woke up, he exclaimed, "mommy is going to bring me a picture of the baby!" then later this morning, she said that he was walking around singing, "baby number 3! baby number 3!" that cracks me up because i haven't really used that term very much around him, but we all know that kids hear everything.... then my mom asked him who baby #1 was, and he gave her the most puzzled look! she tried to explain that HE was baby #1, but i'm not sure that really stuck. :) thanks for trying, mom!!
we already can't wait for january to get here. :) caroline is totally in love with babies, and ethan is convinced it will be a boy and he will name him "goggles". never fear, we do not give our children everything they want!!!

It was so great to see you and the kids this week!! Hope you had a wonderful birthday!

I don't know, Goggles would not be such a bad name.:) I am glad to hear that everything is going so well. I know you are a wonderful mommy and I am excited for your Baby #3!
When you were telling this story earlier this morning, I must not have heard you say Ethan stayed home. Either way, that story is sooo cute! When you start your baby book, you could write that in there. It would be a neat thing to read when all of your children are older to hear how excited Ethan and Caroline were about baby #3.
It was great seeing you this morning! We'll have to do that more often. Both Elijah and Isaiah took a nap when we got home. As you can tell, we haven't done much other than the beach. The pool was a wonderful idea, and I'm so glad you thought of it!! Pictures are on the way!
Ah, you should at least let him call him goggles! :) How sweet! Your kids will always be friends being so close and having such great parents! I have the greatest admiration for all you young parents today, raising your children to love the Lord!
Four lights: "When you start your baby book..."
haha! Emily! That is funny :) just kiddin' I'm sure Goggles will have his on iphoto book, right? We're going to make a blurb book for Shepherd this time... fun!
Okay, seriously, I am SO GLAD he/she is healthy and there is one (although twins would have been really cool)!
Glad to hear everyone is healthy and happy! Can't wait to read how Goggles is progressing!
OK, OK, there is just one. :) Maybe next time. OR like me, A and W are my "twins" (everywhere we go I am asked that). Maybe in a year Caroline and Ethan will start getting the twins question.
Congratulations Brian, Emily, Ethan and Caroline on baby Goggles! We love you guys and can't wait to meet him or her!
Hey Emily! Congratulations on Baby #3 to be. So exciting! Kari
