seeds lead to roots

well, vacation laundry is just about done, and i can't wait to post pictures from our trip. but until then, i thought i'd share what we've been listening to while i fold laundry... and in the car... while the kids play...and, well, whenever we can! seeds family worship cds are wonderful and encouraging and beautifully written. they are scriptures put to great, great music. there are 4 different albums available, and i have downloaded 2 of them from itunes. we have the "faith" and "purpose" cds so far. by the 3rd day that we'd listened to them, ethan was walking around the house singing, "he is a new creation, he is a new creation". his other favorites are "treasure" and "whatever you do" on seeds of purpose and "the light of the world" on seeds of faith. my choice picks are "grace" and "hey man" on seeds of faith. the true testimony to these albums is that brian can listen to them and not get tired or annoyed by them. imagine that-- a kids' cd with the daddy stamp of approval! a friend of ours (an adult, though quite the kid at heart) described the songs as "rockin'". i really have a mission to get all my friends with children hooked on these cds! :) our babies' brains are SPONGES-- God has created them to amazingly soak up whatever they are hearing, and i can think of nothing better for them to be soaking up than the Word of God!

2 timothy 3:14-17
but as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

you can download these scriptures set to music from itunes individually or by album. if you are not an itunes user, you can also order them from cbd or download them from their website. our main local christian bookstore did not have them in stock when i called (to save you local folks a trip). i just wanted to get the word out about these cds if you have not already heard of them. and if you have, shame on you for not telling me about them earlier!! :) (just kidding...)

what is your family listening to right now? please share!

oh, thanks so much for sharing this! we have these steve green songs that are scriptures set to song. and i appreciate that the songs are scriptures, but really, the music is SOOOOOOOO incredibly cheesy. Probably because it's like 15 years old, but you know. So thanks!

hope- yes, we have vol. 1 of hide 'em in your heart too... and ethan LOVES them, but the seeds albums are much more up to date and reach a larger audience. i could totally see some of the seeds songs being used in corporate worship at churches (they probably are!), so that is exciting! let me know what you think if you download some.

Thanks for sharing, Emily! I will have to download some of these songs. For the most part, we've been listening to Amy Grant. Elijah loves "El Shaddai" and Isaiah loves "Thy Word". And we have a CD I made of various artists like Phillips, Craig & Dean, Amy Grant, Relient K, Audio Adrenaline, Clay Crosse and Casting Crowns to name a few.

Oh, by the way, I have changed my blog to open for all so you don't have to sign in any more. But when you post a comment, I review it first before it's actually posted to monitor unwelcome comments (mainly for people I don't know - if you know what I mean.)

Thanks for sharing!

My kids love love the DVD Avalanche Ranch! We first learned of it during VBS last summer. It's praise songs with kids all decked out singing and doing motions to the songs. Paxton really loves doing the movments and singing along!
Thanks for sharing about the scripture songs- we will have to check it out!

I guess I get the most shame for not telling you about those earlier! Cara B. praised them again and again right after they moved away; I love the graphics on the covers, too, don't you?! :)

Hide 'em in Your Heart -haha!! :) The BEST! I will always remember you introducing us to that!

Oh yeah - what we are listening to....

We've been listening to the "Lessons for Kids" Bible Stories & Devotional CDs that you can buy at Dollar Tree right now.... they have pleasantly surprised us, and we love them!

well kristi, i will let you off the hook because there is a very very good chance that you DID tell me about the seeds cds when cara shared them with you & i forgot about them. :) we both had pregnant brains then, so there's no tellin' what the real story is on that one. ha!

I just wanted to come back and say that "Shout Praises Kid Gospel" is really fun for kids. Alanna shakes her booty to it. We teach our kids how to shake their booties for Jesus. That's okay, right???

Hope, it's perfectly okay to teach your children to dance for Jesus. His Word even encourages us to dance and sing for Him (Ps. 149:3) and King David even danced before the Lord (2 Sam. 6: 14 & 16).

I don't think it's wrong or a bad thing to teach your children to shake their booties for Jesus since little ones seem to naturally shake their bodies and booties to show their way of dancing.

It's when they get older and have more control of their body movements I would watch for the way they are dancing. That's when it can either be the right way of dancing (nice and clean) or not the right way (more provocative). But you can teach your girls how to dance nice and clean as they get older, just like you are doing now.

My girls have really enjoyed listening to Snazzy by Go Fish. I heard them at the MOPS Convention last year and they are lots of fun!
