food groups according to ethan

the other day, ethan watched me make a big 'ole oreo cake for a friend who just had a baby, and i even let him have 2 licks of the creme filling (i could've eaten the whole bowl!!). of course, he was asking for "one more yick" over and over, but thankfully it was naptime! so later that afternoon, ethan wanted a snack and asked for "a few crackers" as he always does. i knew we were having pasta for dinner, and i try to somewhat balance out the breads w/ fruits & veggies, so i told him no crackers, but that he could have an apple. "no appa". or he could have a banana. "no bee-nah-eee". then i told him, "ok, but no crackers. if you want a snack, it needs to be a fruit or vegetable." he then stopped to think, and i honestly thought he was thinking about which fruit he wanted! after being quiet for a minute, he looked over at me SO seriously, and here was his healthy snack request...

"soooome cake?"

and that, folks, is all the proof you need that ethan is indeed my child!

it's the kraftfoods.com photo of it... my cake was, of course, not quite that picture perfect and even. and i have no idea how it actually tasted, though it looks delicious!! :) i vote for christie's chocolate cake again this year!!!!! (which i still have never made, believe it or not.)

I see there's been talk of the chocolate cake... the only problem is that I'm traveling with Lyns, Ashley, and Kim... the cake might not make it there! :)
By the way... Ethan's hair cut is adorable! :) I can't wait to play with your precious babies! :)
Love,
Christie

You better watch what you say, or he'll be going to some babysitters house like mine saying, "My mommy doesn't let us have cake!" :)

Hey Emily! I just caught your comment on my blog. It's so fun to "find" friends and see how God is blessing them! Your kids are precious! My kids should be about 22 months apart, but Wesley came 3 weeks early, so this baby's due date is only a month before Wesley's 2nd birthday. I'm actually hoping to carry to term this time, because I'm afraid my family will miss it (it was a close call last time! Plus, I didn't enjoy dealing with Wesley's jaundice, which was partially to blame for him being early). I appreciate your prayers in these last weeks! Baby Maya is my cousin's daughter. She still really needs prayers. My baby girl is strong and healthy, as far as we know, praise God! We have named her, but we never announce names until after the birth... gives our families something to annoy us about! Great to hear from you!
