q&a with ethan
so ethan is learning to answer questions. the first question he learned to answer was a while ago: "who do we pray to?" "God." it makes my heart melt to hear my son acknowledge His Creator and Lord. then more questions came...
"who do we sing to?" "God."
"who tells us to obey daddy & mommy?" "God."
"who made you?" "God."
so far, so good.
"who do you want to pray for?" "God."
"who is coming home soon?" "God."
"who came to visit?" "God."
"who drives our van?" "God."
"who brought you chickfila?" "God."
well, i have to hand it to the kid. if you're gonna pick one answer and stick to it, "God" is the answer to go for! so, at this point, i'm thinking that ethan is starting to get the hang of colossians 1...
for by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things were created through Him and for Him. and He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. and He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything He might He preeminent.
- colossians 1:16-18
well, i was strapping ethan into his carseat the other day, and i saw him noticing the clouds in the beautiful blue sky. "oh, ethan! look at the pretty clouds! who made the clouds?" i asked, expecting the same answer i've heard a million times.... his eyes lit up, a big smile spread across his face, and he exclaimed..... "MEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

that is soooooo funny!! hahahahaha
I forgot to tell you what Lydia said last night at church. We were eating our dinner (microwaved-leftovers-shove 'em down your throat in a hurry) in the orchestra room, and she had to potty. I took her through the sanctuary, and she said, "Oooooh, Mommy, we haven't been in here in a while..." (I guess 'cause we're in the gym w/ Eric now) - and I asked her, "Hey Lydia, do you think about God when you come in here?" She said, "No." I said, "Then what do you think about?" "JESUS!" haha I said, "Well, some people say Jesus is not God, but Mommy and Daddy believe that He is God." "Oh," she said, looking strangely.
It was funny - probably had to be there :)
Hilarious!!!
Sounds like a GREAT time to start teaching him the Children's Catechism, and Bible memory verses. Children can learn it REALLY fast at that age (although some of the big words come out funny!). Gives them a ready defense of their faith from early on! And once those words of faith are hidden in their tender, young hearts, no one can take them away!
