inappropriate comment from a man to a pregnant lady friday

kristi's sister-in-law posts a "friday family funnies" every friday... well, tonite gave me reason to begin "inappropriate comment from a man to a pregnant lady friday" on my blog... or hopefully it'll just be this one. :)

brian and i went to rent a movie tonite with a free rental we'd received from movie gallery. a man about my dad's age was working the register, and when we approached the counter, he looked at me and said "you're about ready, huh?" excuse me? about ready?????? no siree!! i have 15 more weeks to go... that's close to 4 more months of growth here... God gave me the grace to smile and casually say, "oh i've still got 4 months to go" and walk off.... he got off easy.

wives, please gently counsel your husbands on the sensible way to converse with a pregnant woman... if you've had a baby, surely they know this already. and men, before you ask a lady if she's on the way to the hospital or if it's twins, try asking when she's due first... but make sure she's really pregnant before you even go there. when in doubt, a kind smile and a "how are you?" will suffice.

I have a rule that I simply do NOT comment abuot nayone's preganancy unless I know tham and I know that they are actually pregnant. Upon meeting someone who is OBVIOUSLY with child - I will either ignore them rather than spout off a silly useless comment or if in a setting where we will be introduced etc... I will say my name and chit chat and then somewhere slip in the question like this: So you said your husband's name is Rob? Now do you and Rob have any children?" BINGO - that ALWAYS evokes a response of the said woman touvhing her belly and commenting on lil Jr. still baking....

Once I was 8 months preggers and a man at Golden Corral ask me when I was due and I said - "What do you mean due? Due for what?"

I loved it.... I know I was being mean but people just need tp learn that you don't have make a comment just b/c you notice something. I learned this the hardest way as I met a lady who was very large in her belly area and her face and hands were swollen. I commented that must be so tired and that she must be ready any minute huh? She wetnt o very graciously explain to me that her had kidnwy failure and was on dialysis and that she swells after treatments. Man I felt soooooo bad...

Never, ever, ever, ever ask a woman if she is pregnant unless you have a certificate from her doctor saying she IS INDEED pregnant!!!!! :))

When my mom was pregnant with my sister, a lady at church asked her if she was "breeding" again. It's not like she and my dad have 39 children or anything. It's just me and Beth and we are almost 5 years apart! People just don't think sometimes!

WE have about 5 babies due here in the next few months at our church and have already had 2 recently (in May and June). Most of our families with babies (except for the ones just starting out) have at least 3 or more. The big question that I hear that irks me is "do they know what causes this?" Of course they do.........it is the handiwork of an awesome God. What a gift?!?

I think I'm just going to start picking my nose when someone gives me that "look" when I'm in public with my kids and pregnant belly . . .
