not so natural food...
so this is what lori and i do best... besides coming up with ways we're the same & ways our husbands are the same...we can make some mean oatmeal chocolate drop cookies... man, they're good. and they're the best after midnight....
we had a great time laughing and chatting as we made our addictive treat the other night... i think lori said, "i need to go to bed" a hundred times as we stood in her kitchen. i think that these are what cured lori's tooth ills. :) it's amazing what a good OD of chocolate and peanut butter can do for you.
the sacred ingredients

letting them dry...

soooo...we ate a few before they were done...
and we had a few the next morning for breakfast....lori's husband commented last night that he never did see one of those cookies. well, i guess we'll have to make another batch!

Em/Lori, I recognize that cookbook... I have one! Calling All Cooks (yellow cover, about 3 inches thick) by the Telephone Pioneers of America, Alabama Chapter No. 34, right? I think I bought it for $5 at the time. It's been up in my cupboard with the other cookbooks gathering dust, but I now remember how great and simple most of the recipes are in it. Think I'll now keep it out next to my wonderful Paula Dean cookbooks. Thanks for the memory jogger!
PS. Em, feel free to borrow my copy anytime you want to make more of those delicious cookies (or anything else for that matter).
i KNEW i'd seen that cookbook somewhere before!!
Yep - My mother gave it to me.. I grew up in Alabama.... Those cookies are simply divine.
Ha, Ha - well, what can I say? I have a "variety fetish!" :) Come on, you know Eric BEGGED me to make a blog header for him, too! he he
When he went to my blog, though, it looked totally off-center - I'm thinking it's something with Safari and display? What does it look like on yours? :)
Oh, by the way.... you know those are my favorite cookies. I made some a few months ago and put them in the freezer:) I just ate one yesterday (my chocolate cravings are back)!
Have a great trip home! We miss you, Eth-o!
ok that is crazy, I made a batch of those same cookies monday night too!!! Yummy!!
Mops wasn't the same without you and Ethan. A ton of people were sick so the three from our group joined the craft people and made a neat card out of envelopes. By the way, those cookies look wonderful! I would love the recipe!
