oh dear...that's early
girl talk, a blog that i love to frequent, has issued a good challenge for the start of a new year... getting up early to spend time with God, accomplish tasks, and serve your family. these ladies get up at 5 a.m....that is early. real early. mama d would call that "0 dark 30", i believe. i know i'd get a lot done in the mornings, but my sweet husband is a night owl and my precious child is a late sleeper (God is good!!).... so i tend to stay up with my husband and wake up to the ethan alarm, just in time to iron brian's clothes and make his lunch before he heads off to work. and then i get things accomplished. but an hour of quiet before the day really begins sure does sound nice. proverbs 31:15 does speak about rising early...("she rises while it is yet night"...yep, sounds like 5 a.m. to me!) 5:00 is ridiculous for me to even try (mom, i said it so you didn't have to!!), but 7:00 would be a start. i may try it. not tomorrow because as you can see by the time, i'm already up a little late. maybe i'll try it on friday. fridays are great days anyway, since they're fridays (i still find this true, even staying at home now.). so i will attempt a 7 a.m. wake up time on friday and see how it goes. i'll report back.
kristi, are you with me?

I'll join you on that challenge. Today is day one... I am up prayed up, Bibled up, dressed up (well npt up but at least not my jammies) and made up - both my bed and my face:-)
Good for you! I read the same post and thought about you, wondering if you'd take the challenge. You can do it--it takes a while to build up the habit but it's definitely worth it. Your day will go better having spend a few quiet moments with Him who made the day and you!
I'm with Hopem1220's comment, and you know that's how Steven is. One day maybe he'll get the hang of not having to be up at the crack of dawn. Until then, 5:30 sounds about the best I can do. The last 2 days I've been up around 5:45 and had about 20 minutes to God and myself before he was up for good...it's just hard to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for Lydia when I'm already feeling a little drained by 8 am! If you're up for it, you know I'm with ya....maybe we can start a "phone accountability" system...that is, as long as we put our phones on vibrate! Our hubbies would NOT like that alarm! :)
And, oh by the way, my comment sounded totally self-sufficient. I can't even think about doing this one without God's help! 100% God! John 15 would have to be my fighter-passage for this goal. I think it will get easier to do as the winter fades....
:)
I'll be praying for all you moms of young children that your heart's desire will be to "eat" the Word of God (Jeremiah 15:16) in order to help prepare you for the blessings and challenges of the day ahead. This is very timely seeing as how our topic for the young mother's Bible study tomorrow will be, "Developing a Lifestyle of Prayer and Personal Bible Study".
